The M1 Garand was the standard rifle of the United States Armed Forces during World War II and the first semi-automatic rifle to be issued as a primary arm by a major armed force, officially replacing the bolt-action Springfield M1903 in 1936. This rifle appears only in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It is used by the American Engineer and Covert Ops classes only. By 1946, the Axis powers were on the brink of winning the war, and the allies had no choice but to replace the M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, and Springfield M1903 with Machineguns such as the M3 Grease Guns, M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle, and The Thompson M1946.

Trivia[]

  • The M1 Garand was planned for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. References to it can still be found inside the game's source code files, including its damage of 25 per shot. Higher than the FG42 and Mauser (without the scope of course). Likely would have been balanced by recoil, ammo count, clip size, and lack of scope or scope modifiers.
